Blog Day

Today, August 31st is Blog Day. BlogDay was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest. The idea is that every blogger will link to 5 new bloggers, preferable those from outside their normal blogging. I’ve decided to link to 5 each from the largest folders in my RSS Reader.

Organizational & Leadership Development

Execupundit-I appreciate Michael Wade’s world view. He shares the lessons learned from his experience. His quote of the day usually reflects my values.

The Extreme Fundraising Blog-I’ve just started reading this one, but I think I’m going to like it.

Katya’s Non-Profit Marketing Blog-I’ve always liked her take on non-profit marketing, particularly her insights into the social networking world that we are just venturing into.

Learn2Develop-If nothing else, Chris Morgan has started the Carnival of Leadership Development.

Have Fun Do Good-Another one I’m just starting, but the title alone, reminding us of what’s important is worth it.

Youth Development

Teen Shift-Andrew Robinson doesn’t post frequently, but it is obvious that he has a powerful relationship with the teens he works with.

Shaping Youth-Amy Jussel’s take on how the media shapes the next generation. She does a good job of mixing her youth development background with her passion as a Mom.

YPulse-Anastasia keeps tabs on youth marketing, research and books.

Teens Today- Vanessa Van Petien’s take and teen’s and parents. I find a lot of it can cross over to youth development professionals.

TeenLab-Another group that looks for the answers on teens.

Sports

Boston Sports Media Watch-They compile a lot of the best stories on Boston sports. It saves a lot of bouncing around the net to find the interesting stories of the day.

Touching All the Bases-Chad Finn just went mainstream and joined the Boston Globe, but he writes because he loves sports and it shows.

The National Football Post-This blog just started August 9th, but it has a finger on the pulse of the NFL.

Patriot’s Daily-A must for any Patriot’s fan.

Reiss’ Pieces-This is also part of the Globe, but he is the best reporter on the Patriot’s beat.

Worcester, MA

Daily Worcesteria-Scott Zoback has Worcester’s best political reporting -on the net or in print. The Telegram is really missing the boat by not realizing that they are in the information business and competing with him. His live-blogging of campaign events and council meetings make the Telegram’s news obsolete by the time it is printed the next morning.

Wormtown Taxi-Probably the most prolific Worcester blogger. Jeff Barnard keeps local politicians on their toes and up to date on various happenings around town.

Radioball-Brendan Melican’s irreverent take on life in Worcester.

Pie and Coffee-Home of the 508 podcast, a weekly event that covers both the major and minor goings on in Worcester.

I’m From Worcester-Claudia Snell photo blogs on life in Worcester.

  1. Gosh, Joe…I feel like one of those ‘Hallmark holidays’ has passed me by…is it REALLY ‘blog day’ and I missed the dang thing?

Ah well, figures. I’m a bit overloaded lately.

That said, I’m gearin’ up for the Oct. 15th “Blog Action Day” which my pal Andre Blackman at the health blog Pulse & Signal pointed out here: http://pulseandsignal.com/2008/08/20/get-ready-to-make-a-difference-blog-action-day/#comment-473

Plan on it! All of us in the youth sphere are big on ‘action’ so I figure every lil’ step, eh? Thanks for the heads up of what has already passed me by! Whoosh! ;-) Best, Amy
