Social Metrics
Social networking is all the buzz right now for non-profits and others to spread their mission on the net. The question is, how do you know if your message is becoming viral or not? Google Analytics has some great information on how well your website is doing, but it doesn’t tell you how deep or wide your web presence is.
How Sociable (h/t Beth’s Blog) is a new, free tool that measures how much you are being talked about on the net. They rank your brand on based on 22 metrics (Technorati, Facebook, Google rank etc.) and come up with an overall ranking. They’re going to continue to tweak it, but it’s a great start. I’m glad they came up with this. Both my organization (5) and my blog (4) have a fairly low rank on September 1st. The Club is revamping our website and getting more involved in social media, so that should improve. I’ll be posting a monthly scorecard to see how we’re doing. Maybe it will encourage me to blog more so I can catch up to the Club.
